Hi my name's Darrin Coe
wife's name is Kim.
My wife is about half way into her second trimester with our fourth child, who will be a girl, who we've named Kaylen Grace. We have a very kewl 11 year old who's name is Duncan, who loves chess, reading and playing the Wii, a 9 year old named Jensen who is great at math and loves baseball, and a 3 year old daughter named Rowan who is smarter than me or her mother. We just received confirmation that Kaylen Grace has Down Syndrome.
One more challenge, one more opportunity.
My wife and I believe we have strong faith and a strong relationship.
When she called me from the dr.'s office parking lot, sobbing in tears, my heart broke because I wasn't there with her. When she told me Kaylen had Downs, I was surprised by my reaction. I wasn't upset, I wasn't scared, I wasn't sad. I thought, "yep, yet another parenting challenge. We're a team and with our faith, our family, and our friends this is all good." which is pretty much what I said to her.
Now my wife and I are gathering research, readings, and data preparing as best we can. As the daddy, I really feel as if I have no clue.
